Between Line and Poetry: Mahmoud Darwish and Mona Saudi in a Contemporary Encounter

Tuesday 30 June 2026, 12:00–14:00
Location: the Palestinian Museum
Language: Arabic

Join us for the opening of Between Line and Poetry: Mahmoud Darwish and Mona Saudi in a Contemporary Encounter, an exhibition of works created through a February 2026 workshop at the Palestinian Museum.

Led by artist and architect Khalil Abu Arafeh, the workshop brought together more than 35 emerging artists to explore the relationship between poetry and visual art, drawing on the poetry of Mahmoud Darwish and the work of Mona Saudi as points of departure for inspiration and experimentation.

Moving between word and line, meaning and form, participants explored how poetry can take visual form, and how art can read it anew through colour, writing, rhythm, and space. Their works span calligraphy, drawing, and visual experimentation as contemporary visual responses to poetry.

The exhibition celebrates the dialogue participants have created between poetry and art, and between Arab visual heritage and contemporary artistic expression.
