Open Call for Participation in an Art Workshop with Artist Nabil Anani: Leather and Henna

The Palestinian Museum is pleased to invite you to take part in an exceptional art workshop with one of the pioneers of contemporary Palestinian art, Nabil Anani, joined by artist Yazan Abu Salameh, as part of the workshop series accompanying the exhibition “New Visions”.

This workshop offers a unique opportunity to engage closely with Anani’s artistic journey and explore his distinctive techniques in working with leather and natural materials. The program draws inspiration from his mural “The March of Trees”, featured in the "New Visions" exhibition, which extends his long-standing practice of using organic materials such as leather, henna, and others sourced from the Palestinian environment.

Workshop Outline:

Day One | Sunday, August 17

  • Guided tour of the Palestinian Museum and its exhibitions, including New Visions.
  • Introductory session with artist Nabil Anani exploring his work, followed by an open discussion on his methods and approaches.
  • Concept development and initial sketching by participants to plan their final artworks.

Day Two | Tuesday, August 19

  • Supervised creation of artworks, including wood and foam cutting, leather stretching, and dyeing.

Day Three | Thursday, August 21

  • Final touches and completion of participants’ artworks.
  • Open presentation and discussion of the final pieces, followed by a closing session.

Important Information:

The workshop will take place over three non-consecutive days within a single week. Participation is completely free, with a limited number of seats to ensure the quality of the artistic experience. The Palestinian Museum will provide all necessary materials and tools.

A maximum of 15 participants will be selected based on the registration form and their demonstrated artistic interest and practice.

Full attendance on all three workshop days is mandatory to ensure the integrity and benefit of the program.

Applications for participation in the workshop open on Monday, July 28, and will remain open until Tuesday, August 10. Only selected participants will be contacted.
