Cypress after Cypress

Cypress after Cypress

Written by Anas Abu Rahmeh

Illustrated by Yara Bamieh

Language: Arabic

The book takes us to the world of Palestinian embroidery (tatreez), evoking iconic stitched motifs and suggesting possible new ones for modern heritage dresses (thobes), such as the sun in the stitches along the side. A light story with flowing language, it’s a beautiful way to introduce children to a vital component of Palestinian heritage.

The story is inspired by the exhibition "Labour of Love: New Approaches to Palestinian Embroidery".
