Language: Arabic

The author narrates to us the story of a king who allies with a ghoul to get rid of all the soap on earth. The ghoul uses the last spell she has to grant the king’s wish. However, the wisdom of ancestors makes the spell ineffective; instead, the village is transported back in time. Through a high-speed series of events, the story teaches young readers how soap is made, and shows the fate of good and evil across time.

The story is inspired by Mona Hatoum’s artwork ‘Present Tense’, which was part of the exhibition Jerusalem Lives (Tahya Al Quds).
