Clay art workshop inspired by the work of Sliman Mansour
For families and children
The Palestinian Museum, in partnership with Birzeit Municipality, as part of the inaugural Birzeit Days Festival
Friday 9 October 2026, 12:00–14:00
Location: Birzeit Old City, former Al Nayzak premises
Clay can take us back to childhood and remind us what it was like to make things with our hands, build houses, knock them down and start again, and invent worlds of our own in the open spaces of our neighbourhoods, with all the laughter, freedom, and adventure that came with it.
Bring the family and join us for a hands-on workshop inspired by the late Palestinian artist Sliman Mansour, who made clay central to his practice. We’ll knead it, shape it, discover what it can do, and make small houses and other forms. Taking inspiration from our grandmothers’ thobes and the natural world that runs through Mansour’s work, we’ll create patterns and forms we love and experiment with colour and pigments.
At the end of the workshop, everyone will take home a small piece they have made themselves, drawing on Mansour’s work and his world, where clay remained bound up with home, land, and memory.
Places are limited. To join us, please email education@palmuseum.org.
