Seasonal Planting in the Palestinian Museum gardens

Location: the Palestinian Museum Garden

Join us for a seasonal planting workshop at the Palestinian Museum gardens, where together we revive the meaning of land and its connection to resilience. During the First Intifada, when restrictions were imposed and markets were shut down, Palestinians turned to the land to produce their own food. Planting beans, spinach, and arugula became a daily act of resistance, self-sufficiency, and steadfastness. The small garden, a backyard plot, or even a rooftop was transformed into a space for cultivation, learning, and resilience.

In this workshop, we will learn how to plant beans, spinach, and arugula in their seasons, how to sustain a cycle of life that enriches our tables with seasonal and local produce and remember that self-sufficiency begins with a small seed planted in soil that knows and loves its people. Our first step starts at home: bring along any organic compost you prepare, such as banana peels, fruit scraps, eggshells, and more.
